Only if they had used Dylan Schmid to show how young Bae/Neal was, but they didn’t. That doesn’t mean that Neal was that much older than her as so many people insist based on made up information. 

MRJ was cast specifically for Tallahassee because they wanted and asked for a man in his mid twenties to mid thirties. Why would they use Dylan Schmid if they wanted a man in his twenties or thirties?

Bae/Neal could have looked 12, It wouldn’t matter, the FBI has Neal’s age as 24, and I’m almost certain they have some legal verification of that. In the eyes of the law that’s how old he was. He could have been younger, but at some point he must have gotten legal documentation and used March 23, 1977 to put it on there. In the eyes of the law he was 24. If he was arrested he would have been treated as a 24 year old. In the eyes of the law by impregnating a 16/17 year old Emma he committed statutory rape. (going by the pilot where Henry was 10 and Emma turning 28 she would have had to be 17 when she gave birth).

Okay, but here’s the thing: it can’t be legit legal verification. Everything on his id is falsified information because he’s not even from this world. So why is it so hard to believe that he bumped up his age so he could live independently instead of being put in the system? Being forced to stay with people that may let him down when he has had just so much of that in his past? He didn’t get this id from a legal or reliable source because a background check would have proved that he simply doesn’t exist. You don’t give legit ids to people like that. They could be terrorists, illegal immigrants, all the reasons that they would use in 90’s to keep potential threats to the nation or economy out (that’s just how it was). He got his id illegally. He lied about everything on that id, and his age COULD have been one of those things. We don’t know for sure, but you don’t have any solid evidence that the opposite is true either.

As for CASTING a mid- twenty/thirty some actor in the role of Neal: That is just what they did. A CAST CALL for someone of that age because they needed an actor who can play that and match Emma’s current age bracket look-wise. It didn’t say for the flash-back specifically. It could also mean for the current time frame as well. If what you think is true, that he was actually 25 for that flashback, then there is no reason that they wouldn’t have put an actual 17 (16, whatever) year old in the role of young Emma. But they didn’t. It was lazy. They just had the actors represent the specified age ranges, and I honestly believe that goes for Neal too. Early twenties or late teens. Which is laughable. As is JMo playing 16.  Completely laughable.

But even if he was of proper age, which could be argued to be the case with all false info on his id and on that poster, it still doesn’t negate how horrible an ordeal Emma went through. Even if she was 20, it’s still awful to be homeless, a criminal, and feeling worthless. All this demonizing of “adult” Neal and lifting up Emma swan as the poor, clueless, manipulated youth is not what we (all) witnessed on the screen. And the more it is argued, the more it reeks of CS bias.
